Top welterweight contender Shakhram Giyasov will make his highly anticipated return to the ring on November 14 at the prestigious Humo Arena in Tashkent, as announced by Lift Promotions.
The undefeated Giyasov (17-0, 10 KOs), currently ranked fifth by The Ring at 147 pounds and holding the number one spot in the WBA rankings, will face an opponent to be announced in what promises to be an exciting homecoming fight.
While preparing for this bout, Giyasov remains in contention for a mandatory title shot against WBA welterweight champion Rolando Romero. The 32-year-old native of Bukhara, known as «Wonder Boy,» boasts an impressive resume that includes a silver medal from the 2016 Olympic Games.
Giyasov’s last outing in April saw him deliver a powerful fourth-round knockout victory over Franco Maximiliano Ocampo. That fight carried extra emotional weight, coming just a month after the heartbreaking loss of his two-year-old daughter to a rare brain condition.
Joining Giyasov on the undercard will be rising heavyweight star Lazizbek Mullojonov (6-0, 6 KOs, 1 NC). The 2024 Olympic gold medalist from Uzbekistan recently competed in the WBC Grand Prix tournament. However, his impressive unanimous decision win over Youness Baalla in the quarter-finals on June 21 was later overturned to a no contest after Mullojonov tested positive for a banned substance.
The upcoming event promises to be a significant showcase for Uzbek boxing talent, highlighting the country’s growing influence in the global boxing scene.
