The National Agency of Perspective Projects (NAPP) has hosted a meeting with representatives from Meta — the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads, to explore new areas of cooperation in Uzbekistan’s digital sphere.

Discussions focused on the potential establishment of a Meta representative office in Uzbekistan, joint efforts to combat advertising fraud, and mechanisms to support content creators through fair monetisation on the company’s platforms.

Meta’s delegation included Sarim Aziz, Director of Public Policy for South and Central Asia; Senura Abeywardena, Head of Public Policy for Central Asia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka and the Maldives; Aurora Li, Head of Government and Social Initiatives for Central Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan; and Yerasyl Kalikhan, Regional Public Policy Manager for Central Asia and Mongolia.

Both sides highlighted the importance of direct dialogue and experience sharing in regulating digital platforms, safeguarding users and developing a transparent monetisation system. The talks also addressed issues of digital safety, advertising transparency and the promotion of responsible online behaviour.

The parties agreed to maintain ongoing engagement and identify specific areas for future collaboration.
