Uzbekistan’s electrical engineering industry produced goods worth 34 trln soums ($2.8 bn) in the first nine months of 2025, marking a 16.3% increase year on year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was told during a presentation on the sector’s development.

Exports and Copper Utilisation

Exports of electrical products reached $970 mln during the period. However, only 60% of domestically produced copper is currently used in manufacturing high value-added electrical goods. To encourage deeper copper processing and support manufacturers, the government plans to introduce raw material discounts, loan compensation schemes, and other financial incentives.

Expansion of Copper Production and New Projects

Officials reported that Uzbekistan’s annual copper production will reach 250,000 tonnes in the coming years and is expected to double to 500,000 tonnes by 2030. They also outlined new initiatives for using copper and related materials in the production of servers, electronics, air conditioners, solar panels, measuring devices, and smart cards. In total, 157 investment projects worth $2.1 bn are planned.

EU Standards and Export Growth

The Agency for Technical Regulation, in partnership with European organisations, is developing a quality assessment system that will allow Uzbek products to receive the CE mark, certifying compliance with European Union standards. This certification is expected to double the country’s exports to Europe, strengthening Uzbekistan’s position in the regional and global electrical equipment market.

Kursiv also reports that Uzmetkombinat JSC has signed a €132.5 mn, seven-year loan agreement in London to complete the construction of Uzbekistan’s first hot-rolled steel production facility, the Casting and Rolling Complex.
