Gazprom Eyes Higher Gas Supplies and LNG Exports to Uzbekistan

Gazprom is continuing to implement its contract to supply Uzbekistan with 7.7 bn cubic metres of natural gas per year, with significant potential for increasing volumes, including deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The Russian government disclosed this in a statement following talks between Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation across the gas, oil, and nuclear sectors. In 2024, Russia exported 233,500 tonnes of crude oil to Uzbekistan. Energy companies from both countries are also exploring joint projects to develop hard-to-recover oil and gas reserves in Uzbekistan, the statement noted.
The Russian government highlighted that Gazprom has already begun supplying LNG to Kazakhstan by road, setting a precedent for flexible regional energy trade.
During a separate meeting with Tajikistan’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, Novak discussed collaboration in oil production and electricity. Russia currently supplies around 90% of Tajikistan’s petroleum products and continues talks on joint oilfield development projects.
The ministers of Russia and Uzbekistan also discussed joint development of hard-to-recover oil and gas reserves in Uzbekistan.
