Uzbekistan’s composite business climate index increased by two points in September, reaching 57, the Centre for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) reports.
The business expectations index remained high at 62 points. A survey of 1,000 entrepreneurs showed that 46% described the current situation as «good», while 30% reported improved performance over the past three months and 47% noted stronger demand.
«Expectations remain positive: 68% of respondents anticipate business conditions to improve further in the next three months, 62% foresee rising demand, and 52% expect employment to expand,» CERR said in its report.
The centre also observed improved sentiment in agriculture and construction, where the indices rose to 66 and 63 points respectively. However, the overall indicator for business activity fell by five points to 43.
CERR forecasts that business activity will continue to grow in the near term, supported by steady demand and positive expectations that encourage production growth while maintaining price stability.
Kursiv also reports that the August business climate index stood at 55 points, up two from the previous year.
