Nvidia has unveiled its first US-made Blackwell wafer, produced at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) facility in Phoenix, as global demand for AI chips continues to accelerate.

The company said the milestone strengthens the US semiconductor supply chain and helps bring the AI technology stack back onshore, transforming data into intelligence while reinforcing America’s leadership in the AI era. The move also aligns with President Donald Trump’s ongoing drive to bolster US technology and manufacturing capabilities.

TSMC’s Arizona plant will produce some of the most advanced chip technologies, including two-, three-, and four-nanometre nodes, as well as A16 chips used in artificial intelligence, telecommunications, and high-performance computing, Nvidia noted.

The announcement comes amid a wave of major deals between AI developers and leading chipmakers such as Nvidia, AMD, and Broadcom, all seeking to expand data centre capacity to power next-generation AI systems.

TSMC, the world’s largest producer of advanced semiconductors, raised its full-year revenue forecast on October 16, citing surging AI demand. The firm also posted record quarterly profits, surpassing market expectations and underscoring the booming global appetite for AI-driven technology.

Kursiv also reports that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has confirmed a $5 bn investment in Intel last month.
