South Korea’s agricultural machinery company TYM announced on October 20 that it had shipped 36 compressed natural gas (CNG) tractors to Uzbekistan as part of its strategy to expand in Central Asia.

Uzbekistan, a nation rich in natural gas, continues to rely heavily on diesel fuel for farming. To reduce its dependence on imported energy and cut harmful emissions, the Uzbek government is promoting the adoption of CNG-powered agricultural machinery.

In line with this policy, TYM collaborated with local institutions to develop the «T6092» CNG tractor, valued at $1.5 mln (2.2 bn won). Verification and distribution will take place through the Chirchiq agricultural machinery cluster under the Uzbek government.

In September, TYM invited officials from Uzbekistan’s Agency for Innovative Development and the Chirchiq cluster to its Iksan plant, where it showcased its CNG tractor production facilities. A shipment ceremony followed on October 14, attended by senior Uzbek representatives from the development and education departments of the Chirchiq cluster.

The T6092 model can operate on both petrol and CNG, achieving about 77% better fuel efficiency than conventional diesel tractors. The company tailored the tractor to Uzbekistan’s agricultural conditions and crop types, completing all required safety and certification processes.

Including this initial delivery, TYM expects total exports to reach 50 units, worth around 3 billion won. The firm aims to use this project as a launchpad for wider expansion in Central Asia.

Kim Ho-gyeom, head of TYM’s Global Business Division, said:

«This shipment will serve as an important bridgehead for entering the Central Asian market. We will continue to develop high-efficiency, eco-friendly products suited to regional agricultural needs and strengthen our competitiveness in technology, service, and quality.»
