
The Centre for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) has released an updated analysis of trends in Uzbekistan’s automotive market. In September, car sales reached 84,600 units, a 6.4% drop compared with August. The sharpest declines were recorded in the Surkhandarya and Navoi regions, as well as in Tashkent city. Sales increased in the Syrdarya and Tashkent regions.
Primary And Secondary Markets
Sales of new cars saw a moderate seasonal decline, falling by 15.2% to 31,900 units in September. Domestically produced vehicles continued to dominate the market, with 27,400 units sold, but showing a 16.1% decrease from August. Sales of imported new cars totalled 4,500 units, down 8.9% month-on-month.
The used car segment remained steady, with 52,600 vehicles sold in September, just 0.1% lower than in the previous month.
Electric Vehicle Segment
Electric car sales reached a record 7,800 units in September, up 21.6% from August. In the third quarter of this year, 20,700 electric cars were sold nationwide, 2.2 times more than during the same period last year. The strongest growth was observed in Tashkent city, as well as in the Tashkent and Samarkand regions.
Kursiv also reports that Worldwide sales of fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles rose by 26% in September compared with the previous year, reaching a record 2.1 mln units.
