Meghan Markle has shared a glimpse into her relaxed home life, revealing that she welcomes guests to her Montecito residence barefoot and wearing an apron.
Speaking during a livestream event at Godmothers Bookstore in Summerland, California, the 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex said her informal approach helps visitors feel instantly at ease.
«It demystifies,» she explained. «People walk in and go, ‘Oh, she’s in this with me.’»
Instead of offering a traditional cup of tea, Meghan prefers to keep warm cider or hot toddies simmering on the stove, encouraging guests to help themselves while music plays throughout the house.

The event featured a conversation between Meghan and author Courtney Adamo, her former university sorority sister, about Adamo’s new book The Family Home. The two reflected on their college days and discussed motherhood, creativity, and what they called «the value of boredom» for children.

Meghan, mother to two young children, also emphasised the importance of real connection:
«Deep belly laughing with your friends — not just sending laughing emojis.»
Attendees received bottles of the Duchess’s As Ever wine, as the evening closed on a warm, personal note. The bookstore, co-founded by Oprah Winfrey and named after Prince Harry’s «fairy godmothers» remark, has become a favorite local spot for the Sussexes since its 2024 opening.
