Uzbekistan is expanding its economic and energy partnership with the United States following high-level talks in Tashkent between Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and a U.S. delegation led by Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, Trend reports.

The meeting focused on advancing agreements reached during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s September visit to Washington, particularly in investment, infrastructure, energy, mining, agriculture and information technology.

Minister Kudratov stressed the need for practical implementation of these deals, noting a growing interest from American companies in Uzbekistan’s priority sectors.

Discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming C5+1 Summit in the U.S., which aims to bolster regional cooperation between Central Asia and Washington.

By the end of 2024, Uzbekistan-U.S. trade had risen by 15% to $881.7 Mln, while U.S. direct investment in Uzbekistan reached $612.6 Mln. More than 300 American-backed enterprises are now operating in the country, including 167 fully U.S.-owned firms.
