Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered another masterclass performance in Game 2 of the World Series, throwing his second straight complete game to help the Los Angeles Dodgers even the series.
The 26-year-old ace allowed just one run over nine innings, striking out eight on 105 pitches. Despite a shaky start, 23 pitches in the first inning and 46 by the third, Yamamoto settled in and retired the final 20 batters he faced.
«To be honest, I didn’t think I could complete the game because my pitch count was getting high early,» Yamamoto admitted. «But I’m very happy I did and could help the team win.»
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised Yamamoto’s endurance and precision:
«After the first inning, I thought he’d get through six. But his command never dropped, so we let him finish.»
The Dodgers’ 1–1 series tie sets up Game 3 at Dodger Stadium, where Tyler Glasnow will start as Los Angeles looks to take the lead at home.
