Alipay+, the global wallet gateway of Ant International, has announced a partnership with HUMO, Uzbekistan’s national payment system, to enable cross-border QR payments between Uzbekistan and more than 50 countries. The partnership was formalised in Beijing.

The Octomobile app by Octobank will be the first Uzbek e-wallet integrated with Alipay+, with more HUMO-linked wallets and bank apps expected to join by the end of 2025. HUMO becomes the tenth national QR network to partner with Alipay+.

Global Connectivity for Uzbek Travellers

In the first stage, HUMO users will be able to make payments in Uzbek sums while travelling in China, Kazakhstan, Thailand, the UAE, the United States and other destinations, using their preferred home payment apps. Uzbek merchants will also benefit, as they can now accept payments from international users of Alipay+ connected wallets.

Expanding the Alipay+ Network

Alipay+ now connects 40 e-wallets and 10 national payment systems, serving 1.8 bn consumer accounts and linking them with over 100 mln merchants worldwide. In China, Ant International remains the largest inbound payment facilitator, integrating seven global card brands and 31 international e-wallets from 12 regions.

Statements from HUMO and Alipay+

Maksad Mukhitdinov, First Deputy Chairman of HUMO, said:

«We are glad to partner with Ant International’s Alipay+ in this milestone collaboration. This partnership enables seamless global travel for Uzbek users and creates tangible growth opportunities for local businesses.»

Edward Yue, General Manager of Alipay+ for SEA, ANZ and South Asia, added:

«We are delighted to expand Alipay+ across Central Asia with HUMO, enhancing travel experiences for Uzbek tourists and supporting local merchants to serve international visitors.»

Alipay+ continues to strengthen payment security through its Digital Wallet Guardian Partnership, which uses AI-powered protection systems to reduce fraud and account takeover risks by up to 90%, while maintaining privacy.

Kursiv also reports that Mastercard General Manager Denis Filippov said Uzbekistan has «significant potential» to grow digital payments, with cashless transactions now about 43% of total payments (38% in 2023; 41% in 2024).
