Belarus Says Eurasia Holds Key to New Global Security Framework
Eurasia will play a decisive role in shaping future global security mechanisms, Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Sekreta said Monday at the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
Speaking at the event, Sekreta argued that traditional European security structures «have failed the test of time,» blaming the «NATO-centric world order» for undermining trust and conflict prevention efforts.
«The safety mechanisms of trust and conflict prevention have failed due to the relentless pursuit of a NATO-centric world order,» he said.
Sekreta emphasised that the Eurasian continent, home to diverse cultures and centuries of coexistence, offers a foundation for building a more inclusive and balanced international security system.
He noted that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko had also highlighted Eurasia’s growing geopolitical importance in his address to the conference a day earlier, calling for cooperation among regional powers to ensure stability and peace.
According to Sekreta, the development of effective, multipolar security frameworks will depend on Eurasia’s ability to draw from its historical experience of cultural and civilizational interaction.
