Tashkent International Airport has completed a major phase of its reconstruction, unveiling an expanded arrival hall, a new open-air terrace, and an upgraded VIP lounge in the departure terminal.

As part of the project, the arrival hall has been enlarged by 2,200 square metres through a forward extension of the building facade. The reception area now covers about 5,000 square metres and includes seating for around 200 people. Several new cafes, bars, and ice-cream kiosks will soon open in the space, along with a shop and a flower stand.

Improved Access and Transport

A new access road has been built alongside the existing one. The original road will now be reserved for tourist buses and official airport taxis, operated by two licensed providers with four more to follow shortly. Two car rental companies have also begun operations.

The second road will serve private vehicles and ride-hailing services, with a 10-minute parking limit enforced by CCTV cameras integrated with the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ system. Violators will automatically receive fines. The same system already operates successfully near the departure terminal.

Parking at the arrivals area has been expanded to 347 spaces by merging lots P2 and P3. Visitors waiting for extended periods are advised to use these designated parking areas.

New Terrace and VIP Facilities

The airport has also opened a 2,200-square-metre open terrace overlooking the city. Located on the second floor of the departure terminal, it is accessible to both passengers and visitors. The landscaped terrace includes shaded areas, benches, and a microclimate cooling system that maintains a comfortable temperature during the summer. It offers panoramic views of the city, the control tower, and the airfield, with several cafés set to open soon.

The VIP departure lounge has been expanded by 300 square metres, adding to its existing 1,100-square-metre space. The redesigned area now features a more spacious hall and additional seating capacity.

This marks the intermediate phase of the airport’s broader modernisation project. The final stage will merge the arrival and departure halls into a single terminal complex, increasing the total area to over 16,000 square metres and boosting passenger capacity to 2,400 people per hour.

Kursiv also reports that the airport has launched a new online customs declaration service, allowing arriving passengers to complete their forms electronically.
