Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic expressed strong satisfaction with the outcomes of his official visit to Uzbekistan, describing it as an important step towards deepening bilateral cooperation.
Speaking in Tashkent, Vucic highlighted the significance of the Joint Declaration on future cooperation signed between the two countries and said that several accompanying agreements would serve as a solid foundation for future collaboration.
«I am very satisfied with the results we have achieved so far. Yesterday, we signed a Joint Declaration on future cooperation and several documents that will form the basis of our partnership. I hope that, after the intergovernmental commission meets in Uzbekistan, we will be able to host President Mirziyoyev in Belgrade to further strengthen our cooperation in all areas,» Vucic said.
He made the remarks during a visit to the Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent, responding to questions from Uzbek journalists about his meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the initiatives he proposed.
When asked how he would describe Uzbekistan if reporting as a journalist, Vucic said he would encourage Serbians to discover the country for themselves.
«I would tell all my fellow citizens that I made a big mistake by not visiting this country earlier. Come and see it as soon as possible,» he said.
Vučić toured the Center for Islamic Civilization with the Serbian delegation, guided by Rustam Jabarov, the centre’s deputy director.
Located within the Hazrat Imam estate complex, the centre operates under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan. Its construction began following a 2017 decree by President Mirziyoyev, with the foundation laid in 2018.
Although still under development, most of the complex has been completed. It will become Uzbekistan’s largest cultural, scientific, and educational institution, housing a museum, research institute, libraries, laboratories, craft centres, and educational departments, alongside partnerships with international organisations.
