Uzbek Citizens Gain Easier Work Access in Turkey

Uzbek citizens now face fewer barriers to legal work in Turkey. An Uzbek delegation traveled to Ankara and met with Turkey’s Interior, Foreign, and Labor Ministries, as Dunyo reports.
The discussions centered on migration, with both countries committing to combat illegal forms. Turkey pledges support to legalize Uzbek domestic workers currently in illegal status, while extending help to those in construction, catering, and services.
The two governments also prepare to sign a social protection agreement. Labor migration cooperation serves mutual interests and opens long-term opportunities for both sides.
Turkey’s Interior Ministry examines options for work permits, allowing Uzbeks who entered on other visas to change status without leaving the country. Electronic work visas will soon appear for Uzbek citizens, alongside a joint electronic database tracking illegal residents.
The Interior Ministries of Uzbekistan and Turkey plan to sign a memorandum that strengthens anti-illegal migration efforts and facilitates citizen repatriation.
