Mirziyoyev Arrives in Washington for Talks with Trump and C5+1 Summit

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Washington on Tuesday, November 4, where he is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump and take part in the C5+1 summit.
Alongside the main talks, Mirziyoyev will also hold meetings with members of Congress, representatives of the US government and leading American businesses. According to the president’s press service, the key engagements are planned for November 5 and 6, with the C5+1 summit to be held in Washington on November 6. The gathering will bring together the leaders of all Central Asian states and the US President.

The Diplomat notes that the C5+1 format has become a practical platform for Washington to address strategic regional issues, including energy security, economic cooperation and access to critical minerals.
However, the White House now faces a decision on whether to update the framework in line with new geopolitical dynamics. Among the questions being discussed is whether to expand C5+1 by involving additional neighbouring states or instead focus more heavily on investments in infrastructure and resource development.
One suggestion highlighted by The Diplomat is the possible inclusion of Azerbaijan, a crucial link in the Middle Corridor transport route.
According to the publication, bringing Azerbaijan into the platform would reflect current geopolitical realities:
«Central Asia’s connections to the West quite literally run through Baku, and excluding Azerbaijan from a format designed for regional cooperation is becoming increasingly artificial.»
Despite this, some smaller Central Asian nations are reportedly concerned that Azerbaijan’s inclusion could reduce their own visibility and influence within the C5+1 dialogue, potentially shifting Washington’s attention away from their priorities.
Kursiv also reports that on Tuesday, Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the World Summit in Doha, where he proposed the establishment of a Global Social Justice Fund.
