Internet access in Uzbekistan is now near-universal, with nine out of ten residents online. Over the past year, mobile internet speeds increased by 53.4%, while fixed-line broadband grew by 25%, according to the Digital 2026: Uzbekistan report.

Internet Use Becomes the Norm

DataReportal estimates that by the end of 2025, 33.1 million people in Uzbekistan—or 89% of the population—were using the internet. The remaining 11% are mostly rural residents and older age groups who remain offline.

Mobile Connectivity Reaches Almost Everyone

By October 2025, Uzbekistan had 33.9 million active mobile connections, representing 91.1% of the population. According to GSMA Intelligence, 95.6% of these connections are 3G, 4G, or 5G, and the number of active mobile numbers grew by 306,000 (+0.9%) over the year.

Internet Speeds Accelerate

Median mobile internet speeds reached 55.5 Mbps, while fixed-line connections averaged 86.7 Mbps, a 53% and 25% increase, respectively, compared with the previous year, data from Ookla show.

The report notes that October 2025 figures reflect the latest available insights into digital adoption and changing user behaviour in Uzbekistan heading into 2026.

Social Media Growth

Social media continues to expand rapidly. By the end of 2025, there were 14.1 million active social media identities in Uzbekistan, equating to 37.9% of the population, up 41.7% from the previous year.

 • Instagram leads with an estimated 14.1 million users (37.9%)

 • Facebook: ~2.3 mln

 • TikTok (18+): 2.59 mln

 • LinkedIn: 1.1 mln

 • Threads: 834,000

 • X (formerly Twitter): 148,000

DataReportal notes that these figures represent potential advertising reach, not strictly active users, and may adjust as sources update. Interestingly, Telegram was not included in their analysis.

A Young Country with a Young Audience

According to the UN, Uzbekistan’s population in October 2025 stood at 37.2 million, with half under the age of 27. Around 50% of the population lives in cities, which directly influences internet access and online activity.

The report attributes the rapid growth in digital presence to a combination of demographic trends and improved digital infrastructure, signalling a new era of connectivity across Uzbekistan.
