Uzbekistan Deepens Cooperation with NVIDIA to Advance National AI Strategy

Uzbekistan is expanding its collaboration with U.S.-based technology company NVIDIA as part of its plans to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure. Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov discussed new areas of partnership with the company’s leadership during his working visit to the United States.
According to the Ministry, the cooperation will focus on three priorities:
training specialists, building AI research capacity, and deploying high-performance computing systems in key sectors of the economy.
One of the planned initiatives is the establishment of a Centre for AI Excellence in Uzbekistan. The facility will offer training for university faculty, engineers and IT specialists using NVIDIA’s educational ecosystem and certification programs. The centre is expected to support both research and practical industry projects.
Uzbekistan is also preparing to launch dedicated AI clusters. One of them will be used by universities and research organizations; the other will be deployed to support solutions in public administration, healthcare, industry and digital services. Technical and design work on these clusters is currently underway.
Additionally, the government plans to equip several leading universities with advanced computing infrastructure powered by NVIDIA technologies. Procurement for the first phase is scheduled to begin in late 2025.
Longer-term plans include the development of industrial AI applications, such as digital twins, robotics and predictive analytics. To support this direction, the country intends to create a separate Applied AI Innovation Hub with an estimated investment of around $3 million. The project is targeted for launch in 2026.
Officials say the partnership with NVIDIA is intended to help Uzbekistan integrate global expertise into national programs and build the technological foundation needed for a competitive digital economy.
