
Washington and Tashkent have reached a series of major agreements covering investment, industrial and energy collaboration as well as a new 30-day visa-free entry period for US citizens. The details were shared in a State Department release following President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to the United States on November 6.
Investment in American industry and energy
According to the statement, Uzbekistan plans to direct several billion dollars into the US economy and American companies. A key agreement includes up to $400 mln for projects involving critical minerals and rare earth elements, alongside plans to purchase small modular nuclear reactors from US energy firms.
Uzbekistan has also signed a contract to acquire 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft worth $8.5 bn, described as the largest aviation deal ever concluded between the two countries.
Support for agriculture and manufacturing
The two sides agreed on the supply of US agricultural machinery valued at up to $2 bn, as well as the import of as much as 2 mln tonnes of soybeans and 100,000 tonnes of cotton over the next three years.
Uzbekistan intends to purchase $5 bn worth of automotive components and will work with US company Air Products, which plans to invest up to $3 bn in building a methanol plant in Uzbekistan.
New travel opportunities for US citizens
From 2026 US nationals will be able to enter Uzbekistan without a visa for stays of up to 30 days. The State Department said the move would support greater business, academic and tourism exchanges.
Security and law enforcement cooperation
Washington welcomed Tashkent’s efforts to strengthen regional security and jointly counter transnational crime. The countries also agreed to expand information-sharing between law enforcement agencies and enhance Uzbekistan’s border protection with the purchase of US equipment.
