Uzbek company Akfa has begun building a new manufacturing plant in the US state of Kentucky. The total investment in the project is estimated at $600 mln, Jahongir Artikhodjaev said in an interview with Uzbekistan 24.

According to the plan, the facility will produce aluminium products, components for the automotive industry and parts used in solar panels. Artikhodjaev noted that the first phase of investment will amount to $105 mln. A Turkish company, not publicly named, has also joined the construction process.

Last week, US President Donald Trump said that Uzbekistan would purchase goods and invest up to $35 bn in the US economy by 2028 and more than $100 bn over the next decade. Tashkent is expected to work with American firms in the extraction and processing of rare earth materials.

Uzbekistan will also buy 22 aircraft from Boeing and import soybean products from US agricultural suppliers.

In addition, Uzbekistan and the United States plan to expand cooperation in artificial intelligence and water management technologies. The Ministry of Digital Technologies is considering the purchase of equipment from Nvidia for a national AI cluster.
