Jannik Sinner kept hold of his ATP Finals title with a straight sets victory over world number one Carlos Alcaraz, winning 7-6(4) 7-5 in a charged Turin finale, Reuters reports. The Italian dropped to the court after breaking Alcaraz in the last game then sprinted to celebrate with his team as the Inalpi Arena roared his name.

Sinner thanked the fans, calling the atmosphere «incredible» and saying it felt more like a football stadium than a tennis match.

A Rivalry Decided in Turin

The two players have defined the season and it felt fitting they met in the last match of the year. Both reached the final unbeaten although Alcaraz’s perfect run in the round robin meant he finished the year as world number one ahead of Sinner.

Alcaraz created the only break point of the opening set but Sinner stood firm and edged the tiebreak with bold shot making. The Spaniard then broke early in the second set yet Sinner responded quickly, levelled at 3-3 and raised his level when it mattered most.

The match paused midway through the first set due to a medical incident in the crowd. After play resumed Sinner steadied his serve despite not finding his top rhythm. He sealed the win when Alcaraz failed to hold while serving to stay in the match.

Finishing a Landmark Season

Sinner ends 2025 having reached all four Grand Slam finals, lifting the Australian Open and Wimbledon. Alcaraz meanwhile won Roland Garros and the US Open, beating Sinner in both finals.

Despite that head to head record the Italian would not be denied in Turin where he extended his remarkable indoor winning streak and claimed a record $5.07 mln prize.
