Islamabad urges global action as violence surges in West Bank and at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned recent attacks by illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank and the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, calling the actions a «blatant violation» of international law and UN resolutions.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry urged the international community to take «urgent and effective measures» to protect holy sites, prevent further settler violence and ensure compliance with international obligations.

The condemnation follows two days of intensified Israeli military operations that left two Palestinian youths dead and several others injured in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. On Sunday, settlers vandalised four Palestinian vehicles in the town of Sinjel, north of Ramallah.

According to the Colonisation and Wall Resistance Commission, settlers have carried out more than 7,000 attacks on Palestinians and their property since Israel began its Gaza offensive in October 2023. Palestinian authorities say over 1,073 people have been killed and more than 10,700 injured in the West Bank during this period.

Pakistan also highlighted a series of recent intrusions by settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, where 27 incursions were recorded last month.

In a separate development, Pakistan dispatched its 25th consignment of humanitarian aid for Gaza on Tuesday, a 100-ton shipment of tents, tarpaulins, and other relief supplies sent via a chartered plane to Egypt, according to the National Disaster Management Authority.
