World chess champion Javokhir Sindarov will receive a three-room flat as a presidential gift, following his recent World Cup triumph and his wider contribution to the growth of chess in Uzbekistan.
Alongside the flat, his coaching team will receive cash awards in recognition of their role in his success. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has also signed a decree granting Sindarov the honorary title of Honoured Athlete of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the presidential press service, the award reflects his exceptional skill, determination and commitment, as well as his role in strengthening the reputation of New Uzbekistan on the international stage and inspiring young people to take up chess.
