A 40-year-old Kenyan man, Nyakundi Kibiru, has gone viral online after declaring that he is the firstborn son of billionaire Elon Musk. Kibiru claimed his mother had a brief relationship with a «20-year-old Musk» in the early 1990s while working at a hotel in Kenya’s Masai Mara, and he has publicly requested a DNA test to prove his story.

However, the timeline quickly raised doubts. Based on his age, Kibiru would have been born when Musk was around 14 and still in high school in South Africa. Musk, who now has 14 known children with four women, has never mentioned such a relationship.

Kibiru posted a photo of himself to support the claim, prompting mixed reactions. Some social media users said they saw a resemblance, while others cautioned that similar features prove nothing. Many questioned whether the image was AI-generated, noting odd visual details such as a shirt button without a hole and a blurred background typical of AI portraits.

Sceptics also pointed out that people commonly share lookalike traits without being related. Others suggested the man could be a Musk sibling rather than a son—though Musk has no known brother fitting the profile.

Despite widespread doubts, the post spread rapidly across platforms. There is no evidence that Kibiru has contacted Musk or that a DNA test is being arranged. For now, the claim remains unverified, and widely viewed as implausible given the inconsistencies in both timeline and imagery.
