The Central Bank of Uzbekistan ranked among the world’s largest gold purchasers in October, according to the latest report from the World Gold Council. The regulator bought nine tonnes of gold, securing third place behind Poland and Singapore, which each acquired 16 tonnes.

Global net purchases by central banks reached 53 tonnes in October, a rise of 36% compared with September. Other active buyers included Indonesia, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Kyrgyzstan.

Since the start of the year, central banks worldwide have bought 254 tonnes of gold. Poland remains the biggest buyer with 83 tonnes, while Kazakhstan holds second place.

Kursiv also reports that gold prices reached historic levels in 2025, with spot gold briefly touching $4,381 per troy ounce in October.
