Uzbekistan has installed 2,000 MW of small-scale solar panels in private homes and social institutions, producing nearly 2 bn kWh of green energy since the start of 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
At the same time, regional authorities upgraded 69,000 km of electrical grids, 14,000 transformers, and high-voltage substations. Businesses supplied materials, cables, and electrical equipment worth $700 mln for new power plants and networks, while private companies handled project design and construction. The first hydroelectric plant of the Naryn cascade, with a capacity of 38 MW, was commissioned using domestic products.
The president highlighted the potential for construction, electrical and service companies in Uzbekistan to grow into major national enterprises with an international presence. He also pointed to the promise of new factories such as Angren Energo, which will produce 15,000 transformers annually, and O‘zhydropower, designed to manufacture 155 hydroelectric units.
Kursiv also reports that Uzbekistan has secured $35 bn in foreign investment in recent years to develop its energy system.
