Wallet in Telegram Launches in Uzbekistan for 27 Mln Users

Telegram’s integrated crypto Wallet has officially started operating in Uzbekistan, allowing users to buy and sell cryptocurrency directly inside the messenger using local payment systems.
Wallet supports Bitcoin, Toncoin, USDT and more than 200 other tokens, giving users fast options for buying, sending and receiving digital assets.
Irina Chuchkina, Wallet Telegram’s development director, said: «My team spends a lot of time collecting and analysing data about different markets and regions. Our task is to identify countries that are priorities. Uzbekistan is always at the top of the list in all our tables and matrices. It is truly a country with a unique set of advantages.»
Chuchkina noted that Uzbekistan became a priority thanks to its young and fast-growing market, high levels of internet and Telegram usage, steady economic expansion and a progressive regulator that supports innovation and is open to dialogue.
She added: «We are beginning the scaling of the region precisely with Uzbekistan, as it is our first market in Central Asia. We obtained a local licence and want to work in the cleanest possible way, in direct contact with the regulator and in full compliance with the law.»
Asterium, a major local crypto ecosystem, has become the project’s technical partner in Uzbekistan. It provides secure transactions through Humo, Visa and Mastercard cards along with transparent fees and strong data protection.
Kursiv also reports that in October, Telegram founder Pavel Durov has announced the launch of Cocoon (Confidential Compute Open Network), a new decentralised platform that merges artificial intelligence with the TON blockchain.
