Hamkorbank will receive a $70 mln loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Uzbekistan.

SMEs account for around half of the country’s GDP and provide jobs for roughly 80% of the population. Supporting this sector is a key priority for the EBRD. As of December 2025, the bank has invested more than $6.5 bn across 193 projects in Uzbekistan. According to the State Statistics Committee, by early November 2025, there were 395,700 active small and micro enterprises, down 1.6% compared with the previous year.

In the third quarter of 2025, Hamkorbank ranked third among Uzbek banks for activity. It also placed third in terms of financial accessibility and profitability, highlighting its role in supporting the local economy and expanding SME access to finance.

Kursiv also reports that the EBRD will extend a $50 mln loan to Ipak Yuli Bank to strengthen small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Uzbekistan.
