The Australian premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash in Sydney has been cancelled following a deadly mass shooting at Bondi Beach.

The event, scheduled for Monday and set to include director James Cameron and actor Sam Worthington, was called off as a mark of respect for the victims. Organisers said the decision was made «out of deep respect for the victims of the Bondi shooting» and in solidarity with the local community.

The attack took place on Sunday night during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, leaving at least 15 people dead and dozens injured. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the incident as an act of antisemitic terrorism and a targeted attack on Jewish Australians. He later said there was no evidence linking the two suspected gunmen, reported to be a father and son, to ISIS, indicating they may have acted alone.
