The year 2026 in Tashkent has been declared the «Year of Accelerated Development and Income Growth» by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. A major city development programme will be implemented next year, with plans to attract $9 bn in foreign direct investment and $20 bn over two years.

New industrial and logistics projects are planned in the Sergeli, Yangihayot and Bektemir districts. In Sergeli, a $70 mln agro-logistics complex is under construction. In Yangihayot and Bektemir, projects worth $3 bn will be launched in textiles, automotive and other industries. Other areas of the city will receive investment in services, tourism, the creative economy, design, IT, startups, fintech, healthcare and education.

In 2025, 26 streets in Tashkent operated 24/7, creating income opportunities for 5,000 residents. In 2026, a further 18 streets will be included in the programme.

The programme to improve education quality will expand. The number of schools teaching IT, medicine, business and engineering to students in grades 7–11 will rise to 24 in 2026 and 33 in 2027. Teachers will receive salaries of up to 20 mln soums ($1,652) per month depending on student performance.
