Providence police are searching for an individual seen near the person of interest in last weekend’s deadly shooting at Brown University, as the manhunt enters its sixth day.

The Providence Police Department released surveillance images of a man investigators say was «in proximity of the person of interest» before and after the December 13 shooting on and around the Brown University campus. Authorities said they want to speak with the individual as part of the ongoing investigation.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said on Wednesday that the suspect remains at large but expressed confidence in the investigation.

«He will be caught, and it’s just a matter of time before we catch him,» Neronha said.

The two victims were identified as Ella Cook, a sophomore and vice president of Brown University’s Republican club, and Mukhammadaziz Umurzokov, a student from Uzbekistan. Umurzokov’s death was confirmed by U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick, who expressed condolences to the victim’s family and friends.

The FBI has offered a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect, described as a male about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a stocky build. Nine other people were injured in the shooting and taken to local hospitals.

An earlier person of interest was released from custody on December 14, while authorities continue to pursue leads in the case.

Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that the UK has expanded its Russia sanctions regime, adding 24 new entries to its consolidated list and imposing asset freezes and additional restrictions, according to a Financial Sanctions Notice issued on December 18, 2025.
