Belarus would welcome Uzbekistan as a full member of the Eurasian Economic Union, President Alexander Lukashenko said, according to TASS.

Speaking at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, Lukashenko highlighted Uzbekistan’s efforts towards deeper integration with the EAEU.

He said, «You are moving in this direction, doing a lot for it. But it would be good if Uzbekistan joined our family. We will always be glad to see you.»

Uzbekistan has held observer status in the EAEU since December 2020. In 2024, trade between Uzbekistan and the bloc reached $17.5 bn, with exports accounting for $5.8 bn and imports for $11.6 bn.

Kursiv also reports that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev called for the gradual removal of trade barriers between Uzbekistan and the EAEU.
