President Shavkat Mirziyoyev called for the gradual removal of trade barriers between Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), urging the development of a clear road map to simplify procedures and harmonise requirements.
Speaking at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, Mirziyoyev stressed the need for faster solutions to issues linked to differences in technical regulation, certification and customs administration. He proposed setting up a joint Uzbekistan–EAEU coordination group to address tariff and non-tariff barriers.
The president also supported the creation of a unified list of joint projects in sectors such as mechanical engineering, energy, agriculture and chemicals. He suggested preparing a separate plan covering infrastructure and green projects, as well as measures to support small and medium-sized businesses through the Eurasian Development Bank.
In addition, Mirziyoyev proposed drafting a road map for the integration of digital platforms, ranging from e-commerce to digital labelling. Tashkent has expressed interest in EAEU initiatives in biomedicine, energy and robotics.
Uzbekistan has also signalled its readiness to take part in the creation of a shared information resource in the field of tourism.
Kursiv also reports that the EDB plans to invest between $300 mln and $500 mln in Uzbekistan’s economy in 2026.
