Ghana Prophet Delays Doomsday Prediction as Donors Question £74K Mercedes Purchase

Ebo Noah, also known as Ebo Enoch, told followers that a catastrophic global flood forecast for 25 December had been delayed due to «divine mercy». The announcement came amid growing anger over claims that funds raised for building arks were instead spent on a luxury Mercedes-Benz worth about £74,000.
Noah rose to prominence on TikTok after posting videos from Elmina, where he claimed to be constructing arks following a divine vision. His warnings of a three-year flood attracted more than 1.3 mln followers, with believers from Ghana and neighbouring countries donating money and travelling to Elmina in anticipation.
When Christmas passed without incident, Noah said prayers and fasting had persuaded God to delay the disaster, allowing time to expand the arks. However, the mood shifted sharply after images circulated online showing him driving a new Mercedes-Benz B-Class vehicle. Critics and former supporters accused him of exploiting faith for personal gain.
Ghanaian police confirmed Noah was briefly questioned but released, noting that making prophecies is not a criminal offence. Online reaction has been overwhelmingly critical, with some reports suggesting one of the arks was set on fire by angry followers.
The controversy has reignited debate in Ghana over unregulated religious figures and the need to protect vulnerable people from financial exploitation carried out in the name of prophecy.
