Telegram Rolls Out First Major Update of 2026
Telegram has unveiled its first large-scale update of 2026, adding new tools for content consumption and rolling out a refreshed interface for iOS devices.
The update introduces AI-powered summaries that automatically condense lengthy posts in channels and Instant View pages. Users can quickly grasp the key points of long articles and see short summaries displayed at the top of Instant View pages.
Telegram said the feature is powered by open-source AI models running on the decentralised Cocoon network. The company said this approach ensures user data protection and encryption during request processing.
New iOS design
The iOS version of Telegram now fully supports a so-called liquid glass visual style, featuring transparency and light refraction effects across the app. The company said the redesign improves visual clarity and gives the interface a lighter, more modern feel.
Users can manually adjust or limit these visual effects via Settings and Power Saving to optimise performance and extend battery life.
Looking back at 2025
Telegram also highlighted its development pace in 2025, saying it released more than 75 new features across 13 major updates. Updates were rolled out on average every 26 days and at times within just eight days of each other.
Notable additions last year included secure group calls and a built-in gifts marketplace.
Kursiv also reports that Telegram’s integrated crypto Wallet has officially started operating in Uzbekistan.
