Sebastian Stan is reportedly in talks to join Robert Pattinson in DC Studios’ upcoming film, «The Batman Part II.» The Oscar-nominated actor, known for his role as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in Marvel films, could appear as either an ally or adversary to Bruce Wayne, though his character has not yet been revealed.

The sequel, directed by Matt Reeves, is expected to start filming next spring ahead of an October 2027 release from Warner Bros. The first film, «The Batman,» premiered in March 2022 and earned $772 mln worldwide.

«The Batman Part II,» written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, recently added Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson to its cast. Returning cast members include Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (The Penguin), Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Barry Keoghan as the Joker. Stan and Johansson previously appeared together in Marvel’s Avengers films, and Stan worked with Pattinson in Netflix’s «The Devil All the Time.»

Reeves has described the film’s development as a long process aimed at surpassing the original’s critical success.

«It’s been a long journey, but I am so incredibly excited. I’m really proud of the script me and Mattson did,» Reeves said in September, also noting the security measures taken to protect the script.

Although not officially part of the relaunched DC Universe, the film is being developed under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios banner. The new cinematic universe recently launched with «Superman,» which grossed $615 mln worldwide, and will continue with «Supergirl,» «Clayface,» «Man of Tomorrow,» and a new «Wonder Woman» movie.

Stan’s most recent work includes the MCU film «Thunderbolts,» with upcoming roles in «Avengers: Doomsday» and the thriller «Fjord.» DC Studios has not commented on his casting.
