Fans of Stranger Things are divided over a viral theory claiming the show’s finale was not the real ending — and that a secret final episode could still be released.

The series concluded after five seasons on New Year’s Day, but a segment of viewers believe the closing epilogue was an illusion created by the villain Vecna, portrayed by Jamie Campbell Bower. The theory, dubbed Conformity Gate, has gained traction on TikTok, with fans scrutinising background details and alleged continuity errors for hidden clues.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Campbell Bower appeared to dismiss the speculation, saying the finale was «the ending the show deserves» and that Vecna’s defeat felt right for a story centred on friendship, love and hope.

Creators The Duffer Brothers have previously said no alternative endings were filmed, despite rumours fuelled by a cryptic Netflix post hinting at a future date. No additional episode has since appeared.

The finale itself proved controversial, particularly over the fate of Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown. While the final scenes suggest she survived, some cast members and fans believe her ending was intentionally left ambiguous — ensuring debate continues, even as the series officially draws to a close.

Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Netflix has announced a final behind-the-scenes documentary following the conclusion of Stranger Things, offering fans one last look inside the hit series.
