Manchester City are set to complete the signing of Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo in a deal worth more than his £60mln release clause.

The 26-year-old made his farewell appearance for AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday, scoring a stoppage-time winner against Tottenham Hotspur at the Vitality Stadium. Semenyo is now expected in Manchester to undergo a medical ahead of his move to the Etihad Stadium.

While Semenyo’s contract includes a £60mln buyout clause plus £5mln in bonuses, City’s overall package will total £62.5mln spread over two years. The agreement includes £1.5mln in add-ons and a 10 per cent sell-on clause, entitling Bournemouth to a share of any future profit.

The transfer will become Bournemouth’s record sale, surpassing the £55mln paid by Tottenham for Dominic Solanke last season.

If completed, the move will bolster Pep Guardiola’s squad after the City boss highlighted his side’s lack of goals following a 1–1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion. Semenyo has already reached double figures for the season, underlining his impact in what has been a standout campaign for the forward.
