
In 2025, international freight and transit through Uzbekistan exceeded 2.8 mln tonnes, the Ministry of Transport reports.
Volumes along the Central Corridor doubled from 500,000 tonnes in 2020 to over 1 mln tonnes in 2025. The fastest-growing route was China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan, where shipments jumped from 33,700 tonnes to 1.8 mln tonnes over the same period.
Uzbekistan is actively advancing the Trans-Afghan railway project, with a technical and economic feasibility study already under way. In the road transport sector, the country has introduced an e-Permit electronic system in partnership with Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan to streamline cross-border operations.
Additionally, 24 transport and logistics hubs in Uzbekistan have been granted international dry port status, speeding up cargo processing and transit through the country and enhancing its role as a regional logistics hub.
