Canada’s men’s national soccer team will face Uzbekistan in an international friendly in Edmonton on June 1, 2026, as part of its final preparations for the FIFA World Cup 26.
Canada Soccer announced the fixture during the CANMNT January training camp in Los Angeles, confirming that the match will be played at Commonwealth Stadium, the country’s largest open-air venue with a capacity of more than 55,000.
Head coach Jesse Marsch said the game is an opportunity to engage fans in Western Canada and build momentum ahead of the World Cup, which Canada will co-host later in June. The match falls on the opening day of the June FIFA International Window, allowing Canada to play two warm-up fixtures before the tournament begins.
Edmonton officials welcomed the announcement, highlighting the city’s track record of hosting major international soccer events and the expected economic boost from the match. Tickets will go on sale on January 23, with presale access available to CanadaRED members.
The friendly against Uzbekistan will be one of Canada’s final send-off matches before the World Cup, with another warm-up game scheduled to take place in Montreal shortly before the tournament kicks off.
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Chelsea could intensify competition on the wings just months after signing Alejandro Garnacho, as the club continues to explore attacking reinforcements.
