Ferrari has confirmed that Riccardo Adami will no longer act as Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer, ending the pairing after a difficult 2025 season.
The team said on Friday evening that Adami has taken up a new position within the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy. He will serve as Academy and Testing of Previous Cars manager. Ferrari said a replacement race engineer will be named at a later date.
The change comes ahead of a crucial period for both Hamilton and Ferrari. Communication problems between the seven-time world champion and Adami were evident throughout the 2025 season, with frequent disagreements broadcast over team radio.
For Hamilton, 2026 could be his final year in Formula One and is widely seen as his strongest opportunity to return to winning form and challenge for a record eighth drivers’ title.
In a statement, Ferrari said Adami’s extensive trackside experience and Formula One expertise would support the development of young drivers and help strengthen performance culture within the academy. The team thanked him for his work in his trackside role and wished him success in his new position, adding that the new race engineer for car No. 44 would be announced in due course.
Kursiv also reports that Scuderia Ferrari is adopting an «aggressive» strategy for the 2026 Formula 1 season, pushing the assembly of its new car to the absolute limit.
