Bay Area rock band Green Day will open the Super Bowl LX ceremony, the NFL announced on Sunday. The event is set for Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
The NFL said the band will begin the show by escorting generations of Super Bowl MVPs onto the field, while performing a selection of their best-known rock anthems.
«We are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard,» Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong said. «We are honoured to welcome the MVPs who’ve shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world. Let’s have fun, let’s get loud.»
Tim Tubito, the NFL’s senior director for event and game presentation, said the ceremony would celebrate 60 years of Super Bowl history with a hometown band and honour the legends who helped define the sport. He added that the NFL is working with NBC Sports to create a shared celebration for fans in the stadium and around the world.
The opening ceremony will take place before the pregame entertainment, which will feature Charlie Puth, Brandi Carlile and Coco Jones. Puth will perform the national anthem, Carlile will sing «America the Beautiful,» and Jones will deliver «Lift Every Voice and Sing.»
