A charter flight carrying Uzbek citizens deported from the United States arrived in Tashkent on the evening of January 21, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry said.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Akhror Burkhanov said 44 people who had been residing illegally in the United States were returned to Uzbekistan. He noted that the flight was organised jointly with relevant U.S. agencies to ensure the safe and timely return of Uzbek nationals.
«Cooperation on ensuring the safety of our citizens abroad, protecting their legal rights and returning them home is continuing,» Burkhanov said.
According to aviation tracking services, the flight was operated by a Boeing 767-300 belonging to U.S. charter carrier Omni Air International, which also carried out a similar deportation flight on October 10.
The aircraft departed El Paso, Texas, near the U.S.-Mexico border, on January 20 at 6:50 am local time, or 6:50 pm in Tashkent. It later landed in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on the US east coast before continuing to Bucharest, Romania, early on January 21.
After a further stop near Yerevan, Armenia, the plane departed for Tashkent in the afternoon and landed in the Uzbek capital at 7:21 pm local time.
