The ADAC RAVENOL Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) has confirmed a calendar change for 2026, moving the second round of the season to March 21. The new date could allow Max Verstappen to take part in NLS2, potentially driving for Winward Racing in a Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The race has been brought forward by a week to take advantage of a gap in the Formula 1 calendar between the Chinese Grand Prix on March 15 and the Japanese Grand Prix on March 29. The race would fit neatly into his schedule and could form part of his preparation for the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring, which is held on a weekend without a Formula 1 clash.
Verstappen made his Nurburgring debut last year and won his first GT3 race on the Nordschleife, drawing significant international attention to the series.
VLN managing director Mike Jager said the change followed extensive consultation. He added that the move was intended to build on the global spotlight the NLS received last year through Verstappen’s participation, benefiting all teams and competitors.
The March 21 date was originally set for the RCN season opener, but the series agreed to swap dates with the NLS. The 2026 NLS season will now begin one week earlier, with the opening round scheduled for March 14.
Kursiv also reports that Netflix confirmed the release date for season 8 of its Formula 1 documentary series, Drive to Survive.
