Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan Explore New Horizons for Trade and Economic Cooperation

Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and transport as ties between the two neighbours continue to deepen.
The talks took place during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Tashkent Beibut Atamkulov, according to the Uzbek Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade.
Both sides noted the steady growth in bilateral trade and reaffirmed their commitment to increasing mutual trade turnover to $10 bn by 2030 under a Joint Programme. Preparations were also discussed for the first meeting of the Council of Regional Leaders, scheduled for 2026.
In addition, the officials reviewed plans to hold «Made in Uzbekistan» and «Made in Kazakhstan» industrial exhibitions, aimed at strengthening business links and promoting industrial cooperation.
Bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan reached $4.97 bn in 2025, an increase of 11.4% year on year. Uzbek exports totalled $1.55 billion, while imports from Kazakhstan rose to $3.4 bn, up 16.6%.
The discussions underscore both countries’ intention to build on strong economic momentum and open new avenues for long-term regional cooperation.
