Uzbekistan Collects $15 Mln in Digital Services Taxes
Uzbekistan collected a record UZS 181 bn ($15 mln) in digital services taxes last year. The total reflects a sharp 50% increase compared with 2024, showing the country’s growing oversight of foreign tech activity. In total, 78 companies contributed, ranging from global platforms to emerging AI providers.
Apple led the payments with over $4 mln, followed closely by Meta and Google. AI company OpenAI also made a notable contribution of nearly $1 mln, signaling increased adoption of artificial intelligence tools in Uzbekistan. Other contributors included TikTok, Netflix, Amazon, Booking.com, and Xsolla.
Under Uzbek law, foreign firms offering electronic services must file quarterly tax reports and pay by the 20th of the following month. The system allows authorities to monitor cross-border transactions and secure revenue from the booming digital economy.
The increase comes amid broader fiscal reforms aimed at promoting high-tech industries. In late 2025, the government introduced incentives, including reduced corporate tax rates for profits from innovative tech products, to attract investment and encourage local development.
Officials also highlighted that voluntary tax compliance remains strong, with a 97% adherence rate among businesses and individuals.
Kursiv Uzbekistan also reports that Uzbekistan and World Bank discuss $55 mln funding for next-generation school infrastructure.
