The 66th Grammy Awards delivered history, controversy and political statements as the ceremony unfolded at the Crypto.com Arena on Sunday night.

Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny made Grammy history after Debí Tirar Más Fotos became the first Spanish-language album to win Album of the Year. Accepting the award in Spanish and English, an emotional Bad Bunny dedicated his win to immigrants and to Puerto Rico, calling it a moment for «all the Latinos in the entire world.»

The night also produced chaos when Cher mistakenly announced «Luther Vandross» as the winner of Record of the Year. The award in fact went to Kendrick Lamar and SZA for their collaboration «Luther.» With an additional win for Best Rap Album, Lamar became the most-decorated rapper in Grammy history with 27 awards.

Among other major winners, Billie Eilish claimed Song of the Year for «Wildflower,» Lady Gaga won Best Pop Vocal Album for Mayhem, and Joni Mitchell received Best Historical Album during the pre-telecast.

Politics loomed large throughout the evening.

Several artists wore «ICE out» pins, while Eilish declared from the stage: «No one is illegal on stolen land,» in one of multiple moments criticising Trump-era immigration policies.

Comedian Trevor Noah hosted the Grammys for a sixth and final time, opening the show with sharp jokes aimed at Donald Trump and absent pop stars, setting the tone for one of the most outspoken Grammy nights in recent memory.
