Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has rejected claims that Afghan migrants were involved in operating drones during the recent conflict with Israel, saying rumours of Afghan arrests were unfounded.

Hossein Nejat, a senior IRGC commander, said those involved in activities linked to the 12-day conflict were primarily Iranian nationals. While a small number of foreign nationals, including Afghans, were present in some cases, he stressed they played no role in flying drones.

Nejat also dismissed reports about the discovery of tunnels or organised large-scale actions by migrants, saying such claims had not been confirmed. He said between 70 and 80 people were identified and detained for producing and transmitting images and information from damaged sites.

According to the IRGC, some detainees acted out of negligence, while others had direct or indirect links to online platforms associated with Israel or the Mujahedin-e Khalq.

Israel launched air strikes against Iran on June 13, 2025, with aerial clashes between the two sides continuing until June 24.
