WADA to Review Claims of Penis Enlargement at Winter Olympics Ski Jumping

Winter Olympic anti-doping officials say they will be alert to any evidence that male ski jumpers are artificially enlarging their private parts in an attempt to exploit competition rules and gain an aerodynamic advantage.
World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Director General Olivier Niggli said the issue would be reviewed if it fell within the agency’s definition of doping. Speaking at a press conference in Milan ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics, Niggli said WADA currently has no indication the practice is taking place.
«I am not aware of the details of ski jumping and how this could improve performance,» Niggli told reporters. «But if any sign were to come to the surface, we would look at it.»
He stressed that WADA only intervenes when a method of performance enhancement qualifies as doping. If the practice were linked to banned methods or substances, he said the agency’s expert committee would assess whether it should be addressed under anti-doping rules.
The topic has drawn attention partly because ski jumping has a history of rule breaches linked to equipment manipulation. At the 2025 World Ski Championships, Norwegian Olympic medallists Marius Lindvik and Johann Andre Forfang were suspended for three months after their team was found to have secretly altered seams around the crotch area of their suits. Three members of the coaching staff were also banned.
